I know…it seems like it’s children’s fashion week on this blog. But I just found another new children’s clothing line to lust after – ilovegorgeous. Well, although a new find for me, ilovegorgeous has actually been around since 2006 following an inspirational trip to India.
Quite successful from the beginning, ilovegorgeous first debuted collection was negotiated with London retail powerhouse, Selfridges. Use of mish-mash prints are collaborated with different types of movable fabrics – moss crepe, viscose chiffon, silk chiffon, georgette and soft cotton voile. ilovegorgeous is all about making children feel gorgeous.

CHAKRA Design Studio

Morning all. Let’s get down to business! Beautiful kiddie clothes from CHAKRA Design Studio was born out of a love for India, textiles, colour, and of course wanting to keep it all GREEN. Owners, Bindu Kasinadhuni and Sara Hignite uses a technique called Kalamkari, which is a type of block printing. Who knew there were different types of block printing? I know for sure I LOVE them all. These clothes are SO dang cute!!! If only I had a little girl:)
The great part of the entire collection is that each piece is handcrafted in India from vegetable-dyed by a non-profit, ideasforwomen.org. And it’s 100% cotton!
According to their site, it looks like CHAKRA will be introducing their bohemian Indian concept in CHAKRA for her and CHAKRA abode. Oh my! I’ll be stalking their website to see what’s in store for it’s women’s and home furnishings lines.

Art by Vani Gundara

Los Angeles designer, Vani Gundara recently emailed me a collection of her new line of digital paintings and I was truly amazed by her creativity! She tells me instead of using traditional canvas, paints and brushes, she uses the computer to create custom art by hand painting on the computer. Some might find this process convenient, but I must say, I’ve tried this method and its quite difficult to illustrate using the computer. These paintings are hand created by Vani, so the brush strokes, the outlines of the deities are all individual elements that she created. Very impressive finished product, huh?!
Besides being totally inspired by the rich traditional Indian art, the liveliness, richness and quality of her paintings are unmatched.
Currently available are 3 spiritual figures – Guru Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh and Goddess Lakshmi. And in the works is Shiv Ji, which will be available to purchase soon.
Vani’s artistic talent can also be seen at Design an Experience, her primary business creating websites, and print design for customers from all walks of life. Check out her many creative endeavors on her site.

Dear readers, I’m off to India this coming weekend and my bags are packed…which is to say they are practically empty in anticipation of all of the lovely things I’m sure to find in Rajasthan’s markets! While I’ve got my shopping list ready to go, home decor might not make it onto the list…but only because each and every wall of my (very small) apartment is already covered and mostly with Indian inspired art. I’ve got a passion for modern South Asian art and that’s why I’m excited to share Sanjay of SavSani’s gallery with you!
As the featured artist for this unique gallery-wellness-Ayurvedic center, Sanjay’s work is based on “balancing the positive and negative forces in your universe.” He works in a world of warm colors inspired by nature and strives to create pieces on natural fiber paper that are meant to inspire a spiritual awakening. I love Lotus and East. The figures depicted feel modern, fresh, and colorful and don’t overtly reference India while being unmistakeably Asian in origin. They also evoke a feeling of peace and tranquility to me, which I could always use more of. And…they also would match perfectly with my red living room wall! Sweet Sounds ~ Sachal Vasandani

I’m posting something a little different for our Sweet Sounds this week. Nita Chawla (from our first SS choice) dropped me an line with tunes from Sachal Vasandani…Aaaand I’m so glad she did:)
