First Ever Sari App
March 28, 2011There’s apps for everything under the sun these days. How you heard of the ‘Sari App‘? Yes, my sentiments exactly..there’s apps for those, too!!! Sariapp.com provides step by step instructions on how to tie your own sari.
Few years back when I got married, I actually think I could have used this tutorial. If you’re ever breaking-out a sweat draping a sari, this iphone app may just help you adjust to the concept of Indian Standard Time. I do find it to be a cute idea and very creative. Do you have more fun apps to share that our readers may like?

Retail Roundup
February 8, 2011What are your favorite Go2 shops that carry products of Indian origins? We see it all around us…A little piece of India, from block-printing to paisley and lovely incense and candles – something for every room. I did a quick roundup of my favorite retailers carrying asian-inspired goodies in home decor. Enjoy!
P.S. I found these roti rolling pins via a wonderful blog by Sundeep at Designwali. So creative!!!!

Tutorial: Mirror-Work Embroidery
June 7, 2010Embroidery is very famous all over the world…mostly in Pakistan and India. This technique of work with the use of mirrors is called shisha or abla embroidery, which is what my mother called it. It reminds me of a skirt I use to twirl in as a little girl…the mirrors would make hundreds of shadows! I found this wonderful tutorial at Joyful Adobe. Don’t you think it would look cute on a tank?
Thanks, Emily for this beautifully clear set of instructions.

The mirror work is one of the most oldest form of embroideries in India & definitely it has not at all lost its charm over all these years..I specially loved the choice of colors in this one: )
