Quite the jetsetter, Bindya Lulla’s creations are directly influenced by her journeys near and far. Whether she is in Paris, India, or at home in New York; inspiration from her travels is integral to her designs. Her three lines of scarves, wraps, and shawls are functional and fashionable, with options for various tastes.
All of my friends and family know of my affinity for scarves/wraps and the like. I just love the seemingly endless ways that they can be styled. Think the movie theatre may be cold but don’t want to bring a jacket? Shawl for the win! Traveling soon? Make big wraps and scarves essentials of yours. They’ll keep you looking chic and put together—and can double as a plane blanket in a snap! Versatility definitely wins in my book.
Bindya scarves/shawls/wraps are incredibly luxurious, and with the many patterns available they are a great gift to give. Launching over a decade ago, the original line Bindya New York quickly gained a following of dedicated fans, thanks to the incredibly soft quality of the beautiful designs. The more affordable line, Lulla Collection, appeared several years ago, with fantastically fun & bright options. The new line On a Whim takes Bindya designs to a new level: full of graphic prints and spirited designs.
Pick one up for yourself, one for your best friend, one for your mother! I feel they’re a pretty safe bet for fantastic gifts that friends and family will love.

Fans of designer Rachel Roy, admirers of spiritual guru Deepak Chopra, pay attention! Roy and Chopra have recently unveiled an exciting collaboration of t-shirts and jewelry that warm the soul and up your style game.
Vintage rocker style t-shirts have become quite the staple in many fashionista’s closets. With the new collection of tees from Roy and Chopra, devotees can enjoy the chic comfort of a stylish tee while also sharing positive energy through the inspirational messages on the front. The shirts feature a single seam in the back down the spine, which I love. Not only are the shirts cute and versatile, but they could also act as the perfect pick-me-up for those days when you’re just not feeling it.
The Eastern inspired jewelry line includes a charm bracelet set, pendant necklaces, stacking rings and a fantastic sword body chain.
The tees and jewelry are part of both Rachel Roy’s main line and her more affordable secondary line.
Added bonus? The proceeds from the sales of the collaboration go to The Chopra Center for Well Being.
Ask for nothing less than inspiration is one of the phrases used on the shirts. A great thought for everyone, if I do say so myself. What are some of your favorite Deepak Chopra quotes? Have a fantastic day…

I want to talk about something very near and dear to my heart. One of those things in life that you just can’t mess with, something that is so very essential, something that can be the difference between a great day or a not-so-great day.
What is it that I’m referring to? Chocolate, of course! Sweet, delicious, savory chocolate. I found just the company for fellow sweet tooth connoisseurs— with way more than just chocolate.
Xocalatti is located in the West Village in NYC and offers amazing treats like gelato, crumbles, slates, sparts, clusters, and truffles. Recently celebrating their first birthday; Xocalatti combines ingredients from around the world into inspired, delightful treats. Simply browsing the website will make your mouth water!
The Xocolatti Slates are various fruit, nut, chocolate, and spice brittles. Chocolate clusters like the pomegranate woodbury one are esthetically pleasing and palate pleasers. The crumbles and sparks are fantastic alone, or as garnishes for homemade desserts.
Let me highlight the amazing truffles, however. The various flavors are luxurious and exotic. Dark chocolate lovers should try the Malagasy Truffle, with a single origin Criollos and Trinitarios cacao blend. Looking for something more aromatic and unexpected? Try the Rose Cardamom Truffle, excellently showcasing India’s ‘queen of all spices’ with chocolate and rose petals. And what about a Sake Truffle?
…I think I want them all.
Xocolatti calls their creations ‘chocolate, redefined’…quite true, indeed.

Oh yes, what a wondrous thing, the internet— connecting people from around the world, making an immense amount of information available, helping streamline the ways we do almost everything. (And of course, providing a plethora of cute kitten videos for when you’re feeling a bit like procrastinating.) Given all of that, I think one of the coolest things about the internet is the opportunity it provides new businesses to reach new people.
So here is my point: a new and wonderful business, Baby Baazaar. Launched recently by NYC mom Supriya Himatsingka, Baby Baazaar sells eco-friendly toys, books, and blankets for kids. All the products are created in an environmentally friendly manner. Highlighting the importance of quality handmade design, Himatsingka has created a place for parents to purchase hard-to-find ‘green’ items for their kids.
The blankets are printed with Azo-free dyes, the toys are organic and ASTM approved, the books aren’t even available in US stores yet! All of the items are made in the East through traditional artisan means. The blankets (I love this peacock quilt) are designed by Himatsingka in New York, then handmade in Jaipur. The whimsical stuffed toys like the this monkey family are handmade in Sri Lanka (by the same women that hand weave the cotton that creates the creatures). These details would be a fun note to add if you’re gifting anything from Baby Baazaar, or to tell your kids when they’re older and interested in such things.
Definitely give Baby Baazaar a visit when you get a chance!

Scarves are one of my favorite accessories… they’re such an easy way to change up the feel of an outfit and add an instant additional element of style to your look. Maelu Infinity Scarves are some of my favorite new scarves available online, and they’re also available on the great shopping site Etsy. If you haven’t heard about Etsy yet, take note! You can browse & purchase a TON of items; and it is a fantastic place to find unique handmade and vintage pieces.
The Maelu Designs Etsy shop includes tunic dresses, turban headbands, and scarves. All of the clothing is created with high quality natural fibers and hand-bock printed with vegetable dyes. The designs are exotic and look a bit vintage, which I adore.
In terms of the scarves, there are tube/infinity cowl neck styles like this ‘Red Autumn Leaves‘ design, and extra long styles perfect for use as a scarf or shawl/wrap like this ‘Tribal Paisley’ Chanderi Silk option. The headbands are IDEAL for bad hair days—worn traditionally or as a chic turban. A little dry shampoo + one of these babies, and you’re good to go! Plus, a portion of proceeds from Maelu Designs goes directly to www.globalfundforwomen.org, which ‘helps to support the advancement of women’s human rights around the world’.
Designer Meghna Dave clearly puts a lot of thought and love into the items she creates, and I’m glad to help support her endeavors by sharing her Etsy shop with you.
P.S. You can also follow her adventures on her blog here, check it out!
