Sweet Sounds ~ Nerina Pallot

October 25, 2011

Happy Tuesday! Another great sound to add to our Sweet Sounds series. Nerina Pallot comes from an interesting background. Born in London, Pallot’s upbringing comes from Jersey raised by her half-French father and mother from Allahabad, India. Enjoy!

I had never heard of Nerina Pallot before this post… but I love her sound, it’s nice. And the title of the album “Year of the Wolf” is cool.

What an interesting story she has…french & Indian…yet from Jersey. So, interesting.. and she is gorgeous ;)

Sweet Sounds ~ Anil Macwan

October 11, 2011

For someone who had no intentions to release music, I’m so so glad he changed his mind. I’m referring to Anil Macwan and his beatle-esque sound. Perfect for a Tuesday morning to get you up and bopping!

Sweet Sound ~ Tara Priya

September 23, 2011

Amy Winehouse may not be present, but her voice and style has continued to inspire other singers to create soulful music. Which allows me to introduce Tara Priya. This awesome retro singer/songwriter gal has subtle nuances from Amy Winehouse, Adele, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. What do you think?

Check out her song “Rollin’”, which won the 18th Annual Billboard Song Awards. For SoCaler’s, Tara has a show October 3rd at The Mint in LA.

Sweet Sounds ~ Neil Shah

March 29, 2011

Here is talent….Neil Shah is a pianist, vocalist, composer, and records music for television and film!

Neil’s soulful style of Jazz/pop is winning him new fans all the time. His recent recording live at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church with acclaimed Baritone sax player Charles Evans received a steller review in the March issue of DownBeat magazine. He has been fortunate to perform and record with some of the finest jazz musicians – Grover Washington Jr., Eddie Gomez, Bob Brookmeyer, and Chris Potter.

I enjoyed Neil’s jazz recordings but I am really loving several of his songs as singles. There is plenty of more solo tunes to come from Neil Shah. Stay tuned!

Sweet Sounds ~ Sarah Packiam

March 23, 2011

Combining a blend of acoustic pop and traditional Irish music with tablas and mandolin instruments playing in the background, Sarah Packiam makes beautiful music. Her mother is Irish and her father is a musician from India. Her voice reminds me a little of Jewel!

Raised in a musical family, Sarah had an early start and began joining her father on the road, who is a traveling musician from India. By 12, she began writing her own songs. Now settled in Miami, Sarah is debuting her own album with Grammy-award winning producers Tim Mitchell, George Noreiga, and Jody Marr, all who helped launch careers for Shakira, Ricky Martin and Mika. She has also recorded and toured with Shakira and Jon Secada.

Sarah’s music can be found at iTunes and AmazonMP3. Signed, sealed, and delivered – Sarah has also personally made an EP/CD with four of her songs, which can be purchased here. I’m looking forward to watching her progress!
