Art by Vani Gundara
February 23, 2011Los Angeles designer, Vani Gundara recently emailed me a collection of her new line of digital paintings and I was truly amazed by her creativity! She tells me instead of using traditional canvas, paints and brushes, she uses the computer to create custom art by hand painting on the computer. Some might find this process convenient, but I must say, I’ve tried this method and its quite difficult to illustrate using the computer. These paintings are hand created by Vani, so the brush strokes, the outlines of the deities are all individual elements that she created. Very impressive finished product, huh?!
Besides being totally inspired by the rich traditional Indian art, the liveliness, richness and quality of her paintings are unmatched.
Currently available are 3 spiritual figures – Guru Nanak, Guru Gobind Singh and Goddess Lakshmi. And in the works is Shiv Ji, which will be available to purchase soon.
Vani’s artistic talent can also be seen at Design an Experience, her primary business creating websites, and print design for customers from all walks of life. Check out her many creative endeavors on her site.

Retail Roundup
February 8, 2011What are your favorite Go2 shops that carry products of Indian origins? We see it all around us…A little piece of India, from block-printing to paisley and lovely incense and candles – something for every room. I did a quick roundup of my favorite retailers carrying asian-inspired goodies in home decor. Enjoy!
P.S. I found these roti rolling pins via a wonderful blog by Sundeep at Designwali. So creative!!!!

Denim with Indian-Inspired Prints
February 7, 2011
Wake-up lovelies, It’s Monday. I received and email this morning that got me up in heartbeat! My ultimate favorite textile designer, John Robshaw has teamed up with all American Lucky Brand to create Indian-inspired block printed shirts, tops, skirts, belts, and totes. If anyone can incorporate denim with ethnic wear, it’s John Robshaw. Here’s a short video of John’s quest in India, showing a little history of block-printing and the process in finding the most beautiful fabrics.

February 3, 2011Morning lovelies! My daily dose of inspiration multiplies significantly when I discover a unique find. Today, it’s Sasha Gems, a handcrafted jewelry shop where designer Trisha Mitra combines her unique craft with the love of fashion, travel, and culture. My eye is on that gorgeous yellow precious stone necklace! And my mom would swoon over the love life sanskrit gold necklace. This piece for sure is the PERFECT valentines gift, don’t you think? A portion of the proceeds are donated to American Forests (love that!). Read more about Sasha Gems on their official site RIGHT HERE.
