Giveaway: A Modern Indian ‘Minou Bazaar’
July 8, 2010
Heavily influenced by the vintage and antiques of India, Minou Bazaar pairs mughal jewels with modern designs for an eclectic approach to jewelry making. Meenoo Mishra is the crafty woman behind Minou Bazaar, whose creativity is stemmed from her Indian origin and countless vintage pieces given by her mother from childhood. Her love for thrifting takes her to India and back, creating a one-of-a-kind jewelry collection. Originally, Minou Bazaar started as a way to create something new out of the heaps and piles of old Indian costume jewelry Meenoo gathered with her sisters. Overtime, they felt Indian jewelry was meant only for Indian attire and not for work and school. So, Meenoo started playing around with the pieces, taking them apart and mixing them up with non-Indian beads and findings, and realized that her creations were less “blingy,” and more agreeable to her taste.
As a result of Meenoo’s “hunt and gather” methods, each jewelry piece cannot be mass-produced – so collect them while you can. F.Y.I., due to the nature of her designs and materials (vintage metals, recycled, repurposed) no two creations are the same and there may be slight imperfections – I call that character! Mumbai, Mehendi, and Jaipur are some of BollyInstyle favorites. I love the weaving of the gemstones with antique filigree metals which looks just amazing. Meenoo’s work is innovative, interesting and original—jewelry that makes a statement and says something about who you are. Think of a mixture of old and new, traditional and cutting edge, past glory and present bright times. I love when heritage is worn like a couture dress down the runaway. With Minou Bazaar, buyers will hold a piece of archaic history…and much more.
Be sure to become a Minou Bazaar fan on Facebook. Besides her etsy shop online, Meenoo posts new items every week on Facebook, giving 10% off to fans on their first order! Minou Bazaar has kindly extended this same offer to all BollyInstyle readers…simply enter code ‘BollyinStyle’ at checkout.
GIVEAWAY: Mumbai Necklace
One lucky reader will also win the Mumbai Necklace from Meenoo’s India Travel Collection!
1.) To be entered, visit Minou Bazaar and tell me what other pieces you would like to see Meenoo create (colors, more ornate pieces, bracelets, etc.). We love suggestions!
2.) For an extra entry, become a Facebook fan.
Giveaway ends on Friday, July 17th at 8am pst.
Please check back next week to see if you are the lucky winner!

Wow! I love the look of your Indian inspired jewelry – it is fun, unique, lovely and look comfortable to wear. I love earrings, earrings, earrings and the more ornate (just not too long because they catch on clothes and then OUCH!) the better – love the hot pinks and bright blues! The gold swirl patterns that’s on some beads is gorgeous! Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter your wonderful giveaway!

I love the Mehendi necklace. Something similar in earrings would be good that covers the entire ear maybe. I would also like to see more rustic looks – Dokra maybe. I can envision large rings in this style too – would be gorgeous.
Also – I was unable to add the ‘BollyinStyle’ code at checkout for the discount. Did not get a field to enter that.
