Angelika Dreams Organic
February 1, 2011Dear readers, sustainable design is on my mind. It’s all the rage and I’m an admitted skeptic for many products – how much is fashion’s obsession with eco design just a flirtation and what’s legit? BollyInstyle thinks that Anjelika Krishna’s clothing line, a.d.o. (which stands for “Angelika Dreams Organic”) is here to stay. Anjelika’s line is made in the age-old Indian tradition of “Ayur-Vastra,” which literally translates to “life or health clothing”.
Each strand of yarn is infused with hand-picked natural ingredients such as pomegranate seeds, turmeric, lemon, indigofera, sandalwood, basil, and eucalyptus, for example. It’s not just the core materials that are sustainable, but also a.do.’s eco friendly process, which promises garments that are free of synthetic chemicals, toxic irritants, and 100% organic and sustainable. How? While colored, chemical dyes are an anathema to Anjelika’s to organic clothing, her line uses all natural herb dye.

I like Anjelika’s approach to her line, which she says is made for the woman, who is one with her community, active, and wants the very best for her family, her surroundings, the body and the soul.” Every morning, we all actively make a decision to wear something, Some people view their choices through a lens of choosing something “fashionable” or “stylish” (and many don’t!) – what if we added “responsible” to that choice? Shital’s got her eye on the Tanya dress already, so she’s already got her eco style choice covered!
