Diwali Greetings Cards

September 30, 2011

It’s on October 26th!!!! What? I am so late in posting this but there’s still time, people! Diwali is right around the corner. I’m so happy to see all sorts of invitation greeting card companies designing for all types of holidays from Christmas to Diwali. Here is a list of companies where Diwali cards can be purchased.

3 Bees Paperie collection can be purchased through the 3 Bees Paperie website or from their store on etsy.com (3beespaperie.etsy.com). Each set of 25 cards and envelopes is USD $37, plus shipping.

Minted.com, one of my favs when it comes to ‘papel’ has introduced their very first Diwali card collection. All the designs are sourced from independent designers from all over the world who enter design challenges on their site. I LOVE that! They are tapping into every ethnicity and acknowledging all cultural traditions.

TinyPrints went a little further than just designing Diwali greeting cards. You can also order your Diwali party invitations, which can be fully customized. Mix and match your favorite designs and colors then have your Diwali cards printed with labels and choice of colored envelopes.

Sweet Sound ~ Tara Priya

September 23, 2011

Amy Winehouse may not be present, but her voice and style has continued to inspire other singers to create soulful music. Which allows me to introduce Tara Priya. This awesome retro singer/songwriter gal has subtle nuances from Amy Winehouse, Adele, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. What do you think?

Check out her song “Rollin’”, which won the 18th Annual Billboard Song Awards. For SoCaler’s, Tara has a show October 3rd at The Mint in LA.

It’s The Small Things After All…

September 23, 2011

Hello world! I’ve been away for quite some time:( Can’t believe I’ve missed so much. Let’s not waste anytime and get right to my virtual discoveries.

We discovered an adorable site called Small Things After All about global home decor. Small Things After All is an online retail shop for home decor accessories, textiles gifts and much more. I love the hint of rustic vibe and that the vendors are sourced from all over the world. You will find accessories and gifts that are handmade, artisan created with an eco friendly and sustainable flair. My favorites? The Tasseletta quilt, antique-y bottle lanterns, and of course, the vibrant elephant sachet pillow. Adding to my Christmas list!

* A few of the products below are part of their new collection, which will be introduced October 1st!

    cool stuff…

Have been looking for something similar – Something contemporary yet with an antique/rustic look – fits well with the theme of my new house.

The baskets look really good as well.

BollyInStyle, Thank you for this wonderful find.

Roberta Freymann Antique Textiles

September 22, 2011

Hi everyone! It’s Richa from Mala Handmade.  I’m usually a downtown shopper here in New York City – I like the feel of small boutiques as opposed to big department stores and I always feel (despite my actual age!) that I’m too young for the grownup fashions of uptown. I always make a pitstop, however, at Roberta Freymann’s adorable boutiques at 70th and Lexington before hopping on the subway downtown.

Roberta’s been the go-to source of funky, ethnic inspired (and affordable!) design on the Upper East Side for years. She started her business by collecting beautiful tunics and jewelry on her inspirational trips abroad (including India).  Her business took off quickly and she now has not just one, but two boutiques – including a new accessories focused bazaar cutely called Ro’s market – on the same corner (and others in Hamptons as well as online).
The line isn’t shy about bold prints, bright colors, or chunky jewelry – which just happen to be a few of my favorite things! She’s got a lovely range of printed cotton tunics, including cute shirt dresses made of handblock print fabric that are great for the office. She’s also got plenty of pretty sarongs and beach bags with woven embroidery. But you can’t go to Roberta’s stores without trying on one of her chunky jeweled necklaces: bright, bold, and beaded in lush colors, you can throw it on to a simple shift and turn it into the most glamorous neckline. Love it! Let me know what you think.

Richa- Would love to know more about the downtown boutiques you shop at! I’m absolutely loving living downtown, but yes the shops around 70 to 80s on Columbus as lovely!
