Dia Living’s Handcrafted Design
May 31, 2010Launched in 2009, Dia Living was started by Sumeera and Nadia after visiting small local communities throughout the world from Pakistan, India, UK, Morocco, Peru and Mexico. Their upbringing combined with their love of travel allowed Sumeera and Nadia to naturally attain a keen eye for luxurious textiles. Their father opened two of Pakistan’s first garment factories and exported hand-printed line of textiles. And their grandmother taught traditional crafts and fabric dying techniques to underprivileged women. They say history repeats itself. These two women did just that…acted upon their father’s experience and grandmother’s wisdom. Dia’s collection brilliantly combines influences from many styles and vintage techniques. You will find bedding, throws, wraps, pillows, scarves, towels, linens, silk, and rugs.
All of Dia products can be found on their online (only) shop. The site also shows snippets of talented artisans behind these handcrafted products from Morocco and Peru.

Thali It Up
May 19, 2010I saw these on Gnaana and wanted to share this funny yet functional product with you. I say funny because during my childhood, they didn’t look this cute! My mother would take out steel thali’s for special guests and they were simple, round and boring. I definitely didn’t think they were cute then but thali’s have come a long way. These meal plates are way too adorable. Can’t wait to get one for my son.

Amrita’s work is incredible. I found her site about a year ago and her work with color is astounding. I love that she can so easily blend traditional style with modern touches.
My favorite piece is the Aiza Necklace, which is definitely a little black dress piece. I’d probably pair it with something out of the ordinary like emerald-colored heels.

That necklace is a gorgeous statement piece. I’m a big fan of Amrita Singh’s designs, so many of her pieces can be worn with literally everything. I would wear that necklace with skinnies, a vintage surplus jacket, white cotton tank and tan oxford shoes!

I love her work- especially her bangles with kundan work. I’m currently coveting the Banas necklace- love its simple charm. It would go well with just about anything, from a simple tee to a nice kurti.
Great giveaway-thanks!

I was introduced to Amrita Singh’s work by my aunt. Although I have loved her work, it was hard for me to constantly buy some- life of a college kid.
For a girl who keeps her jewelry to a bare minimum her necklaces and rings always caught my attention.
Her most favorite piece by here are what is called the BBM 679 bangles.
With gold and colorful beads, these bangles can add some color and sparkle to most of your closet couture.
Pair it with a white tshirt and dark jeans, a black dress, or even your colorful mehndi outfit.

This is the first time I went to amrita singh’s jewellery website. I think her jewellery is a beautiful combination of modern as well an antique look. I love the kundan earing collection, her jewellery would go very well with evening gowns, daily attire as well indian outfits.

Gorgeous pieces Amrita! Being a big fan of bangles, my favorite is the Danaka bangle set. I’d wear them with a nice black dress at a wedding, or a black tank and jeans for a night out. Bangles are so versatile!

the jalore necklace makes a statement.
Wear it with a black shirt and black trouser and the necklace stands out.
Wear it with a long summer dress with a v neck and it will look equally fancy
wear it with a tank top/shorts/skirt.

Welcome to my New Home
May 17, 2010Happy Monday! Welcome to the brand new home of BollyInstyle! If you haven’t already, please take a moment to update your RSS feeds and change your links or blogroll to my new URL: www.bollyinstyle.com
This blog redesign has been a work in progress for quite some time and I’m so excited to finally be able to share it with you all. I’m working feverishly on several other great sections that I think you’ll love. I’ll let you know as soon as they are available.
I’ve realized after working on this site that redesigning is never really complete (there is always something more to tweak or design again) so I hope you will excuse the dust in a few of my categories as I work on filling them with great content for you to enjoy and ironing out any wrinkles that occurred while transferring my content over.
I would love to hear your feedback on how everything works for you. Not all links have been transferred over from the old BollyInstyle site just yet; so if you spot a broken link or two…don’t be alarmed. I promise I’ll get to fixing them, soon as I can.
And finally… a big huge THANK YOU to each and every one of you for making BollyInstyle what it is.
