India Rose
March 31, 2010Have you ever found a place where upon entering, it makes you sigh and say “ahhh, this is home”? For me, Anthropologie is an inspirational haven. Well, I found an ‘online’ version of my muse. If you haven’t already heard of India Rose, it’s a great online gem of a place for home textiles, tablecloths, doormats, candles, artwork, furniture, and various accessories. Most of India Rose’s retail products are manufactured in India, where the company maintains an office. They also opened a store in Brisbane, CA near San Francisco. Can’t wait to visit…but till then, I can click away here.

Shakira’s Gypsy Acoustic Style
March 25, 2010We all know Shakira can blend different tunes like no other. This version of her latest “Gypsy” is really well done in my opinion. Look at all the different instruments being played!!!! I really like the acoustic element included in this performance.

India’s Heritage In Gemstones
March 24, 2010I thought I’d spend some time today featuring more indian inspired jewelry designers as there are so many and more to come. Today, India is undeniably the centre of gem and jewelry trade with various countries, US being a major collector. This fact coincides with the list compiled in my archives that are inundated with new and upcoming indian inspired jewelry designers. Jewelry is one of those accessory items you just can’t pass up. And even if its not your MUSE, some pieces are just so pleasing to the eye.
Here are a few to keep your eyes on…

Cross Cultural Desserts
March 23, 2010So we all know, Indian food is goooooood! Okay, maybe a very small fraction may not have the taste buds for curry powder but come on, tandori chicken, garlic nan, and aloo gobi, all these are excellent. However, Indian food is not just about curry, chillies and oil. There’s also Indian sweets, which I believe are so underrated. Although my cravings for Indian food will most always trump Indian sweets, these delicacies are becoming more and more popular because of their fantastic taste.
I stumbled upon a tasty looking online sweet shop called Devnaa. Love their concept, adding a pinch of modern flavors to traditional Indian sweets. There’s no sibling rivalry here. Devnaa was started by a brother-sister team, Jay & Roopa. Mastering their mother’s techniques in the kitchen, they decided to make it their own, creating belgian chocolate barfi!
Sorry US residents…these goodies are only delivered in the U.K area. But they have a wonderful blog packed with recipes.
