Inspirational Mismatched Folding Chairs

November 25, 2009

Kantha is quite popular fabric in India, mainly used in saris. There are many Kantha style fabrics on BollyInstyle. These folding chairs are just so lovely. It’s amazing to me how that the same type of fabric can be used on so many different accessories and yet it brings the same outcome – a gorgeous statement at the end. The bright colors and fun patterns add an unexpected flair to any room.

When I saw these at Anthropologie, I thought “of course, a bollyinstyle find”, then I looked at the price tag and thought $200 for a folding chair may be not be in my budget. However, I was so excited when I found a DIY project to make these same exact upholstered chairs over at Apartment Therapy. Shelly, the genius behind this project nailed it! Shelly has posted her “how to” instructions here.

Shashi Crystals Adjustable Bracelets

November 20, 2009

These Indian-inspired Shashi bracelets by Danna Kobo are made with a little crystal, a little satin, and a little leather.  Who would have thought three entirely different materials would create a beautiful piece of jewelry.  A BollyInstyle favorite due to its universal wear, day or night and can be stacked or worn alone.

South Asian Sound Reaching The Street

November 18, 2009

I love to see different platforms helping to promote artists globally. DesiHits is part of this growing success giving undiscovered artists an opportunity to get their music heard.

Wallstreet says “…the world’s leading fusion music hub Desi Hits! is the first to break exclusive collaborations…” Rollingstone writes, “Now more than ever before, mainstream urban musicians are looking to connect with the Indian audience…[and] DesiHits.com is providing them with a platform to make this possible.” And VOGUE calls them the “talent for East-West collaborations…”

BollyInstyle favorite is The Equation series. The desi diva, Kiran Shergill dishes with popular celebrities giving them the opportunity to go “Desi” for one day.  It was cool to watch T.I. play traditional Indian instruments.  Watch here.
