Indian Inspired Jewelry

September 29, 2009
Lately, I’ve been seeing a great amount of Indian inspired jewelry. In India, early emperors’ jewels inspired the great temples and architecture. The following designers have been in some way inspired by the Indian culture either by their travels or cultural upbringing to create gorgeous timeless jewelry. I am a fan of Isharya and Riddhika Jesrani. But along with these two, here are my new favorite designers to WATCH. I’ve gathered a few of my favorite pieces from each…

~Waris Ahluwalia

This actor turned jeweler fuses the romance and history of Italy and India. He has workshops in both countries. I love this designer because he marries ancient techniques from Italian and Indian cultures to come up with marvelous trendy designs. I call him the Sikh Style Idol. Waris’s design house is called House of Waris….And it was recently launched at Barney’s. Congrats, Waris!

~Emily and Ashley

Sibling duo Emily and Ashley Green produce jewelry designs that spring from the Orient, but they came up with the idea from their grandmother’s jewelry box. BollyInstyle loves their mix of vintage styles with Indian details like flat diamonds inset in semiprecious gems and use of talismans as the Tree of Life. These sisters did it right with their array of bangles. The bangles would pair well with saris.

Emily and Ashley’s jewelry can be seen on stars like Julianne Moore, Sarah Jessica Parker and Demi Moore.

~Rina Limor

Rina is a jewelry designer with one-of-a-kind style. She designs exceptional Bridal collections.  She really knows how to sprinkle diamonds with different colored emeralds in each piece. It is quite eye catching!

~Robindira Unsworth
http://www.robindira.com/

Robindira was exposed to the designer world at a very early age growing up with her clothing designer mom. This California based jewelry designer uses the bohemian lifestyle and inspiration by her extensive travel throughout the Middle East, Asia and North Africa.

Its A Cake Walk With Cupcakes & Pastries

September 10, 2009

These timeless dresses are too cute for words! Inshi Khanna came up with Cupcakes & Pastries by collaborating two inspirations – her very active two year old daughter and movies (Old English, French and Indian). What a concept! Inshi’s unique style blends silk fabrics, metallic accents, and stone necklines.

My favorite is the red ‘buttermilk’ dress, which I must get for my niece.

The tunics and dresses are selling out on C&P’s site! Buy here.

The dresses can also be found at various retail stores.

Pretty Sticky Situation

September 8, 2009

I love Kraft paper because it’s so darn versatile. These envelop labels from TapesWell are made of kraft paper. Each roll containes 120 labels. The scroll designs would make any white or colored envelope into a beatiful sealed package.

All around great product.

Kaaya Home

September 6, 2009

Vinitha Watson, is Kaaya Home’s creator. Kaaya’s products are handcrafted from India and around the world, using only natural fibers.

Kaaya’s impressively line of pillows and fabrics are made of ‘ahimsa’, which means peaceful silk. Each piece is created without harming the silk worm.

Kaaya is currently in busy mode, in the process on re-inventing itself. Gosh, can’t wait to see their new approach to home decor textiles.

I just LOVE the hanging tea light candle holders in gold on the bed post. Does anyone know where this accessory is from?
